David Goodall - Project Coordinator and primary author of the 150th Anniversary book

David Goodall originates from Workington, Cumbria. His family introduced him to Workington AFC (The Reds) and Workington Town RLFC in the autumn of 1957 and Workington Cricket Club in the summer of 1958. He retains his passion and sense of identity with his hometown teams and watches them whenever possible. He played most sports whilst at Workington Grammar School, making his debut for Workington CC 2nd XI at Cleator Moor in the then Cumberland Senior League on FA Cup Final day 1965 (Liverpool defeated Leeds after extra-time) aged 15. He continued to play for Workington CC until 1971 when school and university terms permitted, the 1st XI playing in the North Lancashire League, the 2nd XI in the Cumberland Senior League.

Employment and Higher Education kept him out of the game at club level until 1978 when he joined Old Hertfordians CC who shared the facilities at his then rugby club, Hertford RUFC. He was a member of this club until moving to Liverpool in 1994, being Chairman from 1990.

Dave, who had relocated to Liverpool to take up employment with the City Council, to joined Wavertree CC in 1998. He captained the club 3rd XI to League and Cup successes in the Wirral & District League (2000 and 2001) and has captained the club 4th (Development) XI (in the Merseyside Cricket Competition) since its inception in 2002. He is a qualified ECB coach, level 3, and leads the successful club Junior Section which acquired 'Club Accreditation' status in 2005 having been recognised as a 'Focus Club' by the Lancashire Cricket Board since 2002. Dave leads on the club's work with local primary and secondary schools providing coaching during the summer term since his retirement from the public sector in 2001. He is the current Chair of the Merseyside Cricket Development Group, Secretary of the Liverpool Cricket Development Group and co-manager/coach of the City under 14 and 15 cricket squads.

He is supported and encouraged by his partner Betty, who has a reputation for producing excellent hot pots and curries for club functions. His cricket and football-playing son Sam, a former pupil of Childwall Sports College and now an undergraduate at Liverpool Hope University, is a graduate of the club's junior section and is also an ECB level 1 qualified coach, whilst stepson Cole has also played for the club although he played most of his cricket in his native Hertfordshire.
